KUALA TERENGGANU – Only 12 of the 221 Terengganu students studying in Egypt applied to continue their studies at local universities, while the others returned to the republic.

Terengganu Foundation deputy director (education) Razali Mahmud said the 12 students who opted to continue their studies locally included three at UCSI in Marang.

“All the 209 students who returned to Egypt to continue their studies are in third year or higher and they want to complete their studies there.

“They returned to the republic because they are confident with the security aspect there, which is improving,” he told reporters after presenting education aid to Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) students here.

He said the students who returned to Egypt comprised those taking Islamic studies and medicine. — BERNAMA
