HULU TERENGGANU – Four people including a married couple were killed in a crash involving two cars at Kampung Baru Ajil, Bukit Apit near here today.
The 4.40pm crash involved a Proton Saga and a Proton Wira at KM2 Jalan Pengkalan Berangan-Marang.
It is learnt the Wira was heading towards Kuala Berang when it veered into the opposite lane and crashed into the Proton Saga.
The victims identified as Proton Saga driver Abdullah Mamat, 54, his wife Che Mah Awang, 44, and Proton Wira driver, Jusoh Ibrahim, 39, died on the spot.
The fourth victim, Mek Kenanga Bakar, 50, who was travelling in the Proton Saga, died at 6.40pm at the Hulu Terengganu Hospital.
Meanwhile, Bernama interviewed Mek Kenanga’s son, Raja Mohamad Tarmizam Raja Muda, 18, who said the accident occurred while her mother and her uncle were on their way to visit him at the Cador National Service Training Camp in Marang.
“I waited for them until 6.30pm for my mother and uncle until I was told about the crash,” he said.
The seventh of eight siblings, Raja Mohamad Tarmizam said he had called his mother the day before to beg her to come and visit him.
“Initially she was reluctant but I keep on begging her to come and she relented,” he said.
Jusoh’s wife Siti Zabedah Muda, 38, said he husband worked in Marang and travelled daily from Ajil.
