PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic) has reiterated that the party will continue to oppose Umno and called on others to stop defaming them.

“Enough-lah with the accusations that PAS wants to join Umno,” he stressed on his Facebook page on Thursday.

He said PAS was fighting for a country with Islamic values and would continue to give remarks, advise and diversify their ways for the country and its people.

“For PAS, the question of gaining power is not the intention. It is just a tool to achieve its goal of forming an Islamic country,” he said.

No Need PAS-Umno Unity Government

Meanwhile, Several Selangor state leaders have denied claims of a conspiracy involving PAS and Umno working together during the mentri besar crisis last year.

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad (pic) said that the idea of forming a unity government with Umno was never discussed.

“I do not see the need to form a unity government with Umno because we are in control now. Even the people do not want the party now.

Iskandar Samad“Umno is under pressure. What is the point to form a unity government with a party that is no longer accepted by the people?” he said when met after the state assembly sitting.

On Thursday night, for PAS vice-president Datuk Husan Musa reportedly said that PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang had admitted wanting to work with Umno to set up a unity government in Selangor during the crisis.

He said Hadi had confessed to such plans when several colleagues in PAS confronted him about it, that Hadi had also approached several PKR assemblymen to ensure PAS and Umno had enough numbers to form the Selangor government.

Husam claimed that Hadi had also come up with a new idea – to act as an advisor to the government.

Asked if PAS had approached several PKR members for the purpose, Iskandar said that he had no knowledge of it.

Asked on PAS’ stance on Hadi’s offer to act as an advisor to the government, Iskandar said that the party has been doing exactly that in the parliament, giving advice and criticism.

Mentri Besar Azmin Ali said that he was not aware of any PKR members being approached by Hadi.

“There was no discussion towards forming a unity government. I do not know about that. Where was there a unity government?” he
said.

Sungai Burong assemblyman Datuk Shamsudin Lias, former Selangor Opposition chief, said he too had no knowledge of the unity government and none of his Barisan Nasional comrades were approached.

“Maybe someone had the plan then but I did not know and was not approached. However, we are open to the idea,” he added.
