PAS Says MIC Cooperation Must Strengthen PN

PAS has stressed that any potential cooperation between the Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) must strengthen the coalition.

PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said PN remained open to MIC’s participation.

However, the Kubang Kerian member of parliament emphasised that any form of cooperation must deliver tangible benefits.

“Any participation must add value and strengthen PN,” he said.

Tuan Ibrahim added that PN was open to various arrangements, whether through full coalition membership or a looser arrangement as a “friend of PN”

MIC is reportedly moving closer to formally joining PN, a move that would mark its first departure from Barisan Nasional (BN) since independence.

MIC president Tan Sri S. A. Vigneswaran had said the party would convene an emergency central working committee (CWC) meeting to discuss and formalise its position. – NST
