KUALA TERENGGANU: A police constable from the Batu Rakit police station was badly injured after he took a bullet in the forehead when a colleague’s handgun went off today.
Md Rudzki Mohd Rozlan, 23, was hit while he was putting on his socks in front of his quarters at the police station to go to work at about 7.30am, said Terengganu police deputy chief Datuk Hamzah Md Jamil.
The 24-year-old colleague, also a constable, was collecting his Smith & Wesson handgun at the station when the incident happened. He said this when met at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital where the unconscious Md Rudzki had been admitted at the intensive care unit.
Hamzah said Md Rudzki, who hails from Malacca, had been posted to the police station eight months ago.
He said police were investigating the incident but the policeman whose gun went off had not been detained.-Bernama
