An opposition MP suggested that the government issue guidelines on the duties of Imams to commensurate with the allowance they are getting.
Mohd Abdul Wahid Endut(PAS-Kuala Terengganu) said the working hours of Imams should be stated so that their duties go beyond leading prayers.
“I am confident that if they play a role of higher quality, they will help to reduce social problems,” he added at the Dewan Rakyat during the debate on Budget 2011.
He also suggested that the government be more flexible in its style of administration to allow officers to move from one field to another.- Bernama
