KUALA TERENGGANU – A 24-year-old man was sent to the gallows Sunday after the High Court here found him guilty of murdering a fish breeder four years ago.

Justice Datuk Abdul Rahim Uda made the decision after finding that Mohd Faizal Juhari had failed to raise reasonable doubts against the prosecution’s case.

Mohd Faizal, from Kampung Gong Beris, Pulau Kerengga, Marang, was charged with murdering Tan Hai Peng at an unnumbered house in the village between 1.30am and 1.53am on Nov 30, 2007.

In his judgment, Abdul Rahim said that Mohd Faizal, in his defence, testified that he could not remember the murder, which he found doubtful as he (Mohd Faizal) could remember what happened before and after the murder.

The 39 injury marks found on the victim’s body also proved that Mohd Faizal had the intention to kill, he added.

Deputy public prosecutor Ooi Chooi Gaik prosecuted, while lawyer Abdul Aziz Muda represented Mohd Faizal.- BERNAMA
