In welcoming the government\u2019s move to introduce the Child Commission, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal (PN-Machang) said the proposed law would \u201cprotect\u201d the children from LGBTQ-related content on both social and mainstream media, as well as \u201ccultural products\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat the government did recently in confiscating Swatch watches was a good thing, if such items promote or propagandise LGBTQs,\u201d he said while debating Suhakam\u2019s 2020 report on Monday.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we have laws like (that of) Russia, the government does not have to be fearful or apologetic in taking stern action to make sure that our family traditions and religion are preserved in the context of Malaysia\u2019s human rights.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Russian law, which was passed last November criminalises any act regarded as an attempt to promote \u201cnon-traditional sexual relations\u201d \u2013 in film, online, advertising or in public \u2013 and expands on a 2013 law that banned \u201cpropaganda of non-traditional sexual relations\u201d to minors.<\/p>\n
