Social media platforms Facebook and Twitter have pulled a post by PAS\u2019 Batu Buruk assemblyman Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi in which he congratulated the Taliban on its takeover of Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
In an advisory notice on the statement, Facebook stated that the post had violated the platform\u2019s community standards and Muhammad Khalil\u2019s account had been issued a 24-hour ban from posting or commenting of any kind.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis post goes against our standards on dangerous individuals and organisations, so only people who manage Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi can see it,\u2019\u2019 said the notice, referring to the account in question.<\/p>\n
Similarly, Muhammad Khalil\u2019s Facebook account was also prevented from going \u201clive\u201d or advertising for 60 days.<\/p>\n
In response, Muhammad Khalil\u2019s post was also taken down voluntarily, as confirmed by the PAS International Affairs and External Relations Committee\u2019s secretary Muhd Khidhir Izaidin.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this regard, we decided to withdraw our post on all social media platforms to avoid being blocked by other social media platforms.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe PAS International Affairs and Foreign Relations Committee will organise a programme on the issue of Afghanistan which will be announced in the near future,\u201d said Muhd Khidhir in a statement today.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Khalil\u2019s tweet with the same statement was also deleted.<\/p>\n
However, a retweet of the same statement by PAS\u2019 mouthpiece, HarakahDaily, remains on its Twitter feed at the time of writing.<\/p>\n
Earlier today, Muhammad Khalil, who is also in the chairman of the PAS International Affairs and External Relations Committee, had said in a post that the \u201cindependence\u201d achieved by Afghanistan was the result of the efforts of all Afghans to liberate their homeland.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith this victory, it is hoped that all stakeholders will work together and reach an agreement to make peace and work to redevelop and put Afghanistan back on track.<\/p>\n
