KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS is not going to rush to implement its 20-point election manifesto in Terengganu, choosing instead to pace itself to properly implement them in the five-year time period given.<\/p>\n
However, even though there is no fixed deadline given, it does not mean the party is any less committed to fulfilling the pledges.<\/p>\n
\u201cInstead of a 100-day deadline to deliver on a few promises, we chose to set up a committee to monitor the delivery of all our promises,\u201d said Batu Buruk assemblyman Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi.<\/p>\n
The committee, headed by Ladang assemblyman Datuk Tengku Hassan Tengku Omar, would keep track of each promise made in its GE14 manifesto.<\/p>\n
One month after PAS retook Terengganu following its win in GE14, Muhammad Khalil, who is also PAS youth chief, said the state government had delivered on a few of its promises.<\/p>\n
These include free water for the poor and a mass wedding ceremony for those who cannot afford such expenses scheduled for this month and in November.<\/p>\n
Muhammad Khalil admitted that although some of the items in the manifesto could be implemented immediately, others would take time.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will work on the others in due course as they may require us to go through certain processes but I believe we can deliver before the next general election,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that PAS studied the feasibility of implementing its pledges within the five-year time frame carefully, which had helped it list down realistic promises.<\/p>\n
Among the items in the manifesto are setting up a holistic drug rehabilitation centre, creating 20,000 job opportunities in four years and allocating RM50,000 a year for the People\u2019s Housing Loan Fund.<\/p>\n
