{"id":6734,"date":"2011-08-16T06:00:36","date_gmt":"2011-08-15T22:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/index.php\/2011\/08\/pas-dumc-meeting-called-off-2\/"},"modified":"2011-08-16T06:00:36","modified_gmt":"2011-08-15T22:00:36","slug":"pas-dumc-meeting-called-off-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/pas-dumc-meeting-called-off-2\/","title":{"rendered":"PAS, DUMC meeting called off"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"image-link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.freemalaysiatoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/pas-dumc.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-47734\" src=\"https:\/\/www.freemalaysiatoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/pas-dumc.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"300\" height=\"221\" style=\"float: left;\" \/><\/a><strong>PETALING  JAYA<\/strong>: Damansara Utama Methodist Church (DUMC) has cancelled the  scheduled meeting with PAS today on reasons that there have been \u201crecent  developments\u201d and that the case was sensitive in nature.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming this, PAS information chief Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said  that DUMC had sent a letter of postponement to the PAS secretary-general  Mustafa Ali last night.<\/p>\n<p>PAS was scheduled to meet with the church this afternoon as part of  their internal probe over the controversial raid by Selangor Islamic  Religious Department(JAIS) during a thanksgiving dinner at the church  two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe decision by the church was to diffuse tension over the issue. It  may also be the Selangor Sultan\u2019s advice to JAIS not to meet any  parties to ensure information from the investigation is not leaked to  anyone,\u201d said Tuan Ibrahim.<\/p>\n<p>JAIS, supposed to meet PAS yesterday, had also put off meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the meeting with PAS and JAIS occured yesterday, perhaps we\u2019d  still be meeting the church,\u201d the PAS Pahang commissioner said, adding  that the meeting may be re-scheduled to after the Ramadan month.<\/p>\n<p>A DUMC spokesperson said both parties had agreed to postpone the  meeting. He said it was due to \u201crecent developments\u201d and sensitive  nature of the case, without elaborating further.<\/p>\n<p>PAS youth vice-chief Ahmad Sabki Yusof said DUMC\u2019s explanation over  the postponement was unclear and that the postponement would be  indefinite.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang announced that the party  would be meeting church leaders to receive an explanation on the JAIS  raid which occurred Aug 3.<\/p>\n<p>JAIS said raid on the multiracial thanksgiving dinner was conducted  on grounds that the religious authority suspected an attempt to convert  12 muslims who were present at the event.<\/p>\n<p>However, the organiser of the event, NGO Harapan Komuniti, has since  denied the allegation, saying it was merely a fundraising dinner for the  HIV\/AIDS support group.<\/p>\n<p>Mustafa was not available to comment on the posponement.
