{"id":66946,"date":"2018-04-16T20:46:55","date_gmt":"2018-04-16T12:46:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/?p=66946"},"modified":"2018-04-16T19:40:38","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T11:40:38","slug":"pas-aiming-for-simple-majority-in-penang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/pas-aiming-for-simple-majority-in-penang\/","title":{"rendered":"PAS Aiming For Simple Majority In Penang"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PAS will cooperate with Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) and the Penang PAS Supporters Congress (DHPP) to try to wrest Penang from Pakatan Harapan (PH).<\/p>\n<p>Penang PAS commissioner Muhammad Fauzi Yusoff said his party will contest 18 state and six parliament seats here for the general election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTogether with PCM and DHPP, we will be able to reach a simple majority and take over the state this election,\u201d he said in a speech at Pongsu Seribu last night.<\/p>\n<p>In 2013, PAS challenged for just five state and two federal seats.<\/p>\n<p>The Islamist party is no longer part of the larger Opposition, having severed ties with major parties such as DAP, PKR, PPBM and Amanah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis time, we can contest in more seats so we hope Penang voters will come out in full force to support us so that we can take over the state,\u201d he said, expressing belief that his party stood a chance of winning the entire state.<\/p>\n<p>However, PCM vice-president Datuk Huan Cheng Guan said his party is still undecided on the number of seats it will contest.<\/p>\n<p>His party will need to win at least three, assuming that PAS can will all 18, to have any chance of a simple majority in the state assembly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still discussing with PAS the number of seats we plan to contest in,\u201d he said when contacted today.<\/p>\n<p>Last night, Huan and DHPP chairman P. Asokan were also present at the PAS Gagasan Sejahtera event.<\/p>\n<p>Fauzi said their presence showed the close partnership between PAS, PCM and DHPP.<\/p>\n<p>Penang has 40 state seats and 13 parliamentary seats.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to its dissolution, the PH parties had commanded a supermajority in the Penang assembly while PAS had just one state lawmaker.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>PAS will cooperate with Parti Cinta Malaysia (PCM) and the Penang PAS Supporters Congress (DHPP) to try to wrest Penang from Pakatan Harapan (PH).
