Terengganu PAS is contemplating taking legal action against the party\u2019s former vice-president Datuk Mahfuz Omar for accusing three Terengganu PAS leaders of receiving money amounting to RM1 million from Umno.<\/p>\n
Its deputy commissioner, Saiful Bahri Mamat, said the Terengganu PAS strongly refuted the allegation and had given ample time to Mahfuz to provide evidence to support his allegation, but nothing had been forthcoming.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have asked him (Mahfuz) to lodge a police report and provide evidence to support his allegation, but until today, he has not done so.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t simply make allegations because this kind of allegation will tarnish and give bad image to PAS in Terengganu,\u201d he told a press conference here today.<\/p>\n
Mahfuz, who quit PAS and joined Parti Amanah Negara end of last year, recently claimed that three Terengganu PAS leaders had received money, which were deposited into PAS trust fund, from a certain Umno leader last month.<\/p>\n
Mahfuz also claimed that a sum of money had also been deposited into PAS Development Division or Election Division account.<\/p>\n
Saiful Bahri said Mahfuz should have also lodged a report about his claim at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.<\/p>\n
He stressed that as a political party, PAS had sufficient fund for its operation and also to contest in the general election.<\/p>\n
\u201cPAS members in Terengganu now numbered over 100,000 and we are used to holding fund raising activities to finance our operations.<\/p>\n
\u201cPAS has tarbiah centres, halls and nurseries which were set up through donations from its members and the public.
