Abdul Rahim Sigh Abdullah, 37, Yuhasafuddin Yusof, 24, Mat Seri Mamat, 48, Malizar Sutan Sulaiman, 51, Ibrahim Abdulah, 55, and Mahsuri Ngah, 60, were fined RM2,000 each for committing the offence behind a shop in Jalan Sultan Ismail at 12.15am.<\/p>\n
But, their story did not end there.<\/p>\n
The six received an earful from Magistrate Nor Azizah Mohd Yusof, as well.<\/p>\n
In castigating them, she told them that they had committed the offence during the fasting month.<\/p>\n
“Looking at your ages, you are all grown-ups. There are fathers, even grandfathers, among you.<\/p>\n
“You should feel ashamed before your children, grandchildren, particularly for doing it (gambling) during the Ramadan.<\/p>\n
“If I see you again in this court, I’ll impose no less than a jail sentence,” she warned them.<\/p>\n
The charge under Section 7 (2) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953, read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, carries a fine of not more than RM5,000 or a jail term of not more than six months, or both. – BERNAMA<\/p>\n
