\u201cIn Chinese seats where the fight is between MCA or Gerakan and Pakatan, it is a PAS candidate who can draw away a chunk of the Malay votes, not an independent,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Universiti Malaysia Sarawak\u2019s Assoc Prof Dr Jeniri Amir also believes that independents will not be a big factor in GE14.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe fight in GE14 is going to be between Barisan, Pakatan and PAS and independents are only going to be irritants,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said the presence of independents will make GE14 livelier but they should not harbour any hopes of making a mark in the coming polls.<\/p>\n
