This was announced by PAS central committee member Mohamad Sabu and Kuala Krai MP Dr Hatta Ramli at a press conference here this afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will mobilise 100,000 members and supporters from PAS alone,\u201d said Sabu who is eyeing the party\u2019s number two post.<\/p>\n
He revealed that the rally would be held on July 9 at 2 pm in Kuala Lumpur.<\/p>\n
Asked on the motive behind the rally, Hatta said the government had not agreed to the demands made in the first rally four years ago.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Election Commission is trying to curb us. The government also doesn\u2019t know how to differentiate whether an action constitutes bribery,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
In 2007, Bersih, which is made up of more than 60 NGOs, demanded for the use of indelible ink, registered voters roll clean-up, abolition of postal votes and access to the government-controlled print and broadcast media for opposition parties.<\/p>\n
This time around, the Bersih 2.0 rally would see an addition of two more demands.<\/p>\n
One was to end the misuse of government machinery as seen during the various by-elections and the recently concluded Sarawak state election.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople get confused on whether the programmes are coming from political parties or the government,\u201d said Sabu.<\/p>\n
