On 30.4.2011,\u00a0Najib  threatened\u00a0Malaysian Chinese voters that unless they vote for MCA, they  will be left out of the federal government. Najib has\u00a0shown that he has  no respect for the\u00a0right of Malaysians to vote freely for the political  party of their choice. Unable to win over Chinese voters by persuasive  argument\u00a0or by just policies, he now resorts to\u00a0open threats and  intimidation.\u00a0Najib displays the traditional BN reliance on\u00a0unfair and  underhand methods when faced with defeat or loss of\u00a0public support.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Najib&#8217;s statement is evidence of racial politicking of the worst  kind. It is proof positive that\u00a0the biggest obstacle to national unity  in Malaysia is the Barisan Nasional and its\u00a0parochial policies.  Surely\u00a0the federal government must be for the benefit of everyone,  irrespective of whom\u00a0any group or section of society voted for in the  general elections. To hold otherwise is to go against the very basic  principles of our democracy. This type of politics of electoral  punishment has no place in any country that dares to call itself a  democracy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It is\u00a0noteworthy that MCA President Chua Soi Lek remains silent in  the face of Najib&#8217;s outrageous threat to\u00a0our democratic values..\u00a0This is  precisely why Chinese voters have no regard for the MCA.\u00a0MCA and its  leaders simply have no courage or\u00a0moral backbone. Tested time and time  again, they have\u00a0invariably fallen beneath the level of events.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>We call upon the Prime Minister and the government:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>i)\u00a0to withdraw immediately the threat\u00a0made on 30.4.2011 to Malaysian Chinese voters,\u00a0which undermines and subverts\u00a0our system of<\/strong> <strong>parliamentary democracy. <\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>ii) to respect\u00a0and be guided by the democratic values\u00a0and  practices enshrined in our Federal\u00a0Constitution, which is the founding  text of our nation. <\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><strong>iii) to legislate into law the\u00a0Restoration of Democracy Act advanced by Pakatan Rakyat, which is for the benefit of\u00a0the people.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><\/p>\n<div>N SURENDRAN<\/div>\n<div>VICE
