PAS said today it was shocked by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia\u2019s decision to postpone the debate of party president Datuk Seri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang\u2019s private member\u2019s Bill today.<\/p>\n
The Islamic party secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the party had prepared debaters for the proposed amendments to Syariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act 1965 and was caught off guard when Pandikar made the announcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe didn\u2019t know, we had prepared our speaker\u2019s (for the debate). We were shocked,\u201d he told reporters when met after the Bill was deferred.<\/p>\n
PAS Youth Chief Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz also echoed Takiyuddin\u2019s sentiments, claiming that the party was shocked with Pandikar\u2019s ruling.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe speaker\u2019s decision to postpone the debate was quite shocking as we in PAS was prepared but Speaker made the decision using his powers,\u201d he told reporters when met after the debate.<\/p>\n
The Pasir Mas MP also hoped that when the debate in the next session will be longer so that a good debate from all sides.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope that the next sitting would be longer so that all parties can debate it properly. It is an interesting debate that has gotten attention of the public,\u201d Nik Abduh added.<\/p>\n
