PAS will cease its relationship with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) as the latter is committed to join Opposition pact Pakatan Harapan, vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said yesterday.<\/p>\n
According to the Kelantan deputy mentri besar, the Islamist party will continue to alone, even as it insists on maintaining its unofficial ties with PKR.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf PPBM chooses to be in Pakatan Harapan, then all is answered, then it\u2019s off,\u201d Mohd Amar was quoted saying in Malay daily Sinar Harian.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf that is their official stand, no need for any discussions. We will walk alone.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said PAS is content with its third bloc, Gagasan Sejahtera, and claimed that there are at least two parties interested in joining its pact in the near future.<\/p>\n
In Utusan Malaysia, Mohd Amar further said that PAS will no longer offer PPBM space in its events as before.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will also not share stage with PPBM anymore since that is the condition we have put all this while,\u201d he said, referring to PAS\u2019 refusal to work with former ally DAP and splinter Parti Amanah Negara.<\/p>\n
In a separate report in Sinar Harian, PPBM chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad dismissed PAS\u2019s announcement that it will cut ties with his party.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere is already Pakatan Harapan, and we now agree to unite by joining the pact so we share the same position.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they don\u2019t want, then I cannot say anything. But our doors are still open, not just to PAS, but any other parties too,\u201d Dr Mahathir was quoted saying, referring to PAS.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Dr Mahathir was reported as saying that PPBM intends to join Pakatan Harapan to form an expanded Opposition coalition with a new identity and which will use a common logo for elections.<\/p>\n
Last December 13, PPBM and Pakatan Harapan signed an agreement to form an electoral pact to face ruling Barisan Nasional coalition in the 14th general election.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
