{"id":49243,"date":"2016-09-18T17:57:26","date_gmt":"2016-09-18T09:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.buletinonline.net\/v7\/?p=49243"},"modified":"2016-09-18T17:58:25","modified_gmt":"2016-09-18T09:58:25","slug":"pas-president-confirms-will-re-table-bill-syariah-amendments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/pas-president-confirms-will-re-table-bill-syariah-amendments\/","title":{"rendered":"PAS President Confirms Will Re-Table Bill On Syariah Amendments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR: PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang confirmed that he will re-table the Private Member&#8217;s Bill aimed at expanding the powers of the Syariah Court during next month\u2019s sitting of Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yes, yes,&#8221; he told reporters after a courtesy visit to the Federation of Hokkien Associtions at Wisma Fujian, on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-49245\" src=\"https:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/09\/PAS-meet-Hokkien1-264x300.jpg\" alt=\"PAS meet Hokkien1\" width=\"264\" height=\"300\" \/>The Bill seeks to empower the courts to enforce punishments \u2015 except for the death penalty \u2015 as provided for under Syariah laws for Islamic offences listed under state jurisdiction in the Federal Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, Hadi, who is Marang MP, reiterated that non-Muslims should not fear the Bill as the Syariah court has no legal jurisdiction on them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Muslims have their own laws, while the non-Muslims have their own respective laws.
