KUALA TERENGGANU: Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman has been pressured once again to vacate his position by Barisan Nasional assemblymen who are expected to vote him out at the State Assembly sitting schedule on August 8. <\/p>\n
Leading the charge is State Executive Councillor Ghazali Taib (BN \u2013 Ajil) who faces possible disciplinary action, including his removal as an Exco member. <\/p>\n
Ghazali, who is State Communications, Multimedia and Special Task committee chairman told reporters yesterday that someone had to speak up against the weaknesses in the state leadership. <\/p>\n
\u201cThese issues must be explained by the menteri besar. Personally, I am sad with what is happening to the people. Politically, Umno members are divided over certain decisions and statements that had further weakened the party. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe slim majority (BN 17 seats, Pas 14 and PKR 1) is fragile. He cannot go around making threats to sack any of the BN assemblymen,\u201d said Ghazali, referring to Razif\u2019s statement asking the Umno Supreme Council to sack Kijal assemblyman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said, who is former menteri besar. <\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Razif) has to put differences aside and put the house in order, and not make threats to sack anyone not supporting his moves. Removing any of the BN assemblymen will weaken the party,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n
In this respect, he said the Umno Supreme Council’s decision not to discuss disciplinary action against Ahmad (Said) was a wise one but at the state level, Razif\u2019s supporters have drummed up a campaign to get Ahmad sacked as a party member. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt is easy to make a decision (to sack) but the consequences of such a decision must be considered. One way or another it will affect BN\u2019s position in the state government,\u201d added Ghazali. <\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said when contacted declined to comment on rumours on another round of a no-confidence vote but said \u201cWait and see what happens\u201d. – nst.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
