{"id":47623,"date":"2016-07-29T02:34:48","date_gmt":"2016-07-28T18:34:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.buletinonline.net\/v7\/?p=47623"},"modified":"2016-07-29T00:39:10","modified_gmt":"2016-07-28T16:39:10","slug":"shariah-law-to-curb-crime-amid-gun-violence-cases","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/shariah-law-to-curb-crime-amid-gun-violence-cases\/","title":{"rendered":"Shariah Law To Curb Crime Amid Gun Violence Cases"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The implementation of the Islamic criminal code will be a better measure to cut the crime rate, Federal Territories PAS Youth chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin said today amid public unease over a recent spate of shooting cases nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>He urged Malaysians to back the implementation of Shariah law for criminal cases, arguing that such measures would have a \u201cpreventive\u201d effect and were not only \u201cpunitive\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe urge the people to back the implementation of Shariah law for criminal cases as part of the effort to reduce crime rates,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-17775 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/Ir-Khairil-Nizam-Kahiruddin-300x248.jpg\" alt=\"Ir Khairil Nizam Kahiruddin\" width=\"300\" height=\"248\" \/>In May, PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang tabled a private member\u2019s Bill in Parliament seeking to enhance the punishment scope of the Shariah courts.<br \/>\nYesterday, a moneylender in Setapak was shot by two men in a drive-by shooting in broad daylight, adding to a long list of such shooting cases this year.<\/p>\n<p>Khairil also questioned if crime rates had actually dropped as the government claimed following the shootings.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoes this not show that violent crime is on the rise among people in urban areas?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n<p>He also demanded that the police step up and curb all gangs and syndicates in the country so that the country is not \u201cpolluted\u201d with violent crimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAbout 70 per cent of Malaysians will be residing in cities by 2020 due to socio economic factors, and this process will be affected if they are troubled by the issue of such crimes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He also said that the shooting cases prove that the government\u2019s National Key Result Area target to reduce crime is \u201cfailing\u201d.-themalaymailonline<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The implementation of the Islamic criminal code will be a better measure to cut the crime rate, Federal Territories PAS Youth chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin said today amid public unease over a recent spate of shooting cases nationwide.
