The Shariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) (Amendment) Bill 2016 which was tabled in Parliament in May should be given more detailed explanation to the people in the country.<\/p>\n

Constitutional expert Prof Madya Dr Shamrahayu Abd Aziz said the lack of clarification and misinterpretation on the Bill were among the factors that led to the various groups including Barisan Nasional component parties voicing their objections on the Bill which they considered as hudud law.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe person who made the proposal should come forward to give an explanation so that it will be understood by everyone. However, it is the government that is working hard to give explanation on the Bill.<\/p>\n

\u201cProblems that arise due to the Bill must also be resolved in the best manner,\u201d she said about the Bill which was tabled for first reading at the Dewan Rakyat sitting by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang on May 26.<\/p>\n

She said this to reporters after analysing the book \u2018Negara Maslahah:<\/p>\n

Shamrahayu, who is a lecturer with the Law Faculty of the International Islamic University Malaysia, explained that the Bill only involved the empowering of the Shariah Courts and was not on hudud as perceived by various quarters.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the book written by Alies Anor, Shamrahayu felt that it could become the guide and philosophy for political activities, besides being used as the basis and policy in the administration of a nation.<\/p>\n

The 200-page book published in May featured the concept of thinking of al-Ghazali which was said to be appropriate for application in Malaysia because al-Ghazali\u2019s thoughts were more inclined towards the federation system of government.<\/p>\n

Alies Nor, who is the former PWTC chairman, was a former political secretary to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.<\/p>\n
