PAS President Datuk Seri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang said that its government in Kelantan and one-term rule in Terengganu were free of corruption.<\/p>\n
He pointed to the graft allegations surrounding Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng\u2019s house purchase as he campaigned here in the Sungai Besar by-election.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have proven this in Kelantan and Terengganu \u2015 none of our leaders were involved in corruption, land and bungalow (scandals). None. This is our success in forming a clean government,\u201d he told the audience of over 200 during his speech here last night.<\/p>\n
The Marang MP also claimed that the DAP administration in Penang has suffered problems, while the Kelantan state government was free from issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cDAP in just one term administering Penang, a lot of things have happened. We have led the Kelantan government for many terms and nothing has happened,\u201d Hadi added.<\/p>\n
Kelantan, however, was not entirely free from problems in the administration as the Auditor-General\u2019s Report released last month revealed that many victims of the December 2014 floods that hit Kelantan, among other states in the east coast, were still staying in tents and transit homes in the second half of last year as 40 per cent of the new homes planned for them remained unbuilt.<\/p>\n
Hadi made an example of the short-lived Pakatan Rakyat rule in Perak, where he accused PAS’ former allies in the now-defunct pact of succumbing to corruption and causing them to lose the government.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, none of our representatives were taken by ‘dedak’.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe lost the Perak government under Pakatan Rakyat not because of us, but because of our friends who ate dedak there. That’s why we lost Perak,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Claiming that PAS is the only party that can bring change in Malaysia, Hadi said the Islamist party would never be in cahoots with the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN).<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will support what is right and oppose what is wrong. This has been our stand since our party formation before independence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe rise from the call of the rakyat and not money politics. Our downfall was due to the treason and wrongdoings done by Umno and BN,\u201d Hadi said, adding that \u201cOnly PAS will be able to bring change, not DAP or PAN (Amanah)\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
