Mahkamah Mesir pada hari Isnin telah menambah hukuman penjara seumur hidup terhadap Mursyidul Am Ikhwan Mohamad Badie, yang sebelum ini telah pun dijatuhkan hukuman mati serta penjara.<\/p>\n
Selain beliau, seramai 35 orang lagi pemimpin Ikhwan turut dihukum penjara seumur hidup atas tuduhan mencetuskan pertempuran ganas selepas tentera menggulingkan Presiden Mohamed Morsi.<\/p>\n
Mahkamah turut menjatuhkan hukuman penjara antara tiga hingga 15 tahun, kepada 48 individu lain.<\/p>\n
Pihak berkuasa telah menahan beribu-ribu pemimpin dan ahli Ikhwan, termasuk Morsi, sejak rampasan kuasa pada tahun 2013.<\/p>\n
Pada hari Isnin, mahkamah mensabitkan Badie dan defendan lain dengan suatu kesalahan yang tidak dilakukannya, iaitu dituduh terlibat dalam pertempuran di bandar Terusan Suez, Ismailiya, yang telah mengakibatkan tiga orang terbunuh.<\/p>\n
Negara Mesir telah digegarkan dengan keganasan melampau beberapa minggu selepas pembangkang mendirikan khemah-khemah protes, membantah penggulingan Morsi.<\/p>\n
Polis membunuh beribu-ribu penyokong pembangkang dalam pertempuran itu, termasuk lebih daripada 600 lagi pada 14 Ogos, 2013 apabila pihak berkuasa menyuraikan kem bantahan dengan kekerasan.<\/p>\n
