A female teacher experienced chilling moments after allegedly being \u2018shot\u2019 at twice, in an incident in Kuala Berang, Hulu Terengganu on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
State CID chief ACP Wan Abd Aziz Wan Hamzah said in the 7am incident, the woman who works at a secondary school in the district was on the way to work.<\/p>\n
He said when passing through Jalan Paya Besar, the 38-year-old teacher attempted to overtake a Proton Saga, but failed.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuddenly, a motorcycle came from the opposite direction and the teacher had to continue driving behind the car (Proton)… she sensed there were two men in the car.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen (the victim) was about five metres behind the car, the front passenger had fired a shot with a gun believed to be a pistol\u2026 it sounded like a gun shot, and released smoke,\u201d he said in a statement, here, today.<\/p>\n
He said the victim who was startled by the shot distanced her vehicle, but the purported assailant fired another shot.<\/p>\n
Clearly panicked and not knowing the motive behind the shooting, he said the teacher then lodged a police report on concerns about her safety.<\/p>\n
Wan Abd Aziz said an operation was launched to detect the suspects, and the police raided a home in Taman Permai Pesanggaran, Kuala Berang, at about 8pm the same day.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe arrested a labourer, and during the investigations, he confessed to having driven the car to send his eight-year-old son to school.<\/p>\n
\u201cOn the way, his son had been playing with a toy gun..we also seized the toy gun that was purchased for RM8 from the Kuala Berang night market,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said no further action was taken against the Year Two pupil, however, the police will carry out checks against the trader who sold the toy gun. \u2014 Bernama<\/p>\n
