Komtar assemblyman Ng Wei Aik today said he will sue those who claim he made a racial slur against an Indian-Muslim shop worker here two Sundays ago.<\/p>\n
The Penang chief minister\u2019s political secretary was alleged to have told Restoran Nasi Kandar Mohamad Aliyar supervisor, Mohamad Ali Miden Shah to \u201cbalik India (return to India)\u201d while assisting local council officers seize the shop\u2019s furniture during a January 2 enforcement exercise.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is slander and a wild and malicious accusation against me,\u201d Ng said in a media statement today.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will file a lawsuit against those who make baseless allegations against me,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The state lawmaker said he has been facing repeated personal attacks after the shop \u2014 located in the Komtar constituency \u2014had furniture seized by local council officers, for breaking local by-laws.<\/p>\n
The Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) had confiscated several tables, chairs and a television belonging to the \u201cmamak\u201d shop that had been placed on the sidewalk after two cars crashed near there earlier that night.<\/p>\n
Ng has been forced to defend himself after facing relentless attacks from the Indian-Muslim community following news reports published in pro-Umno websites.<\/p>\n
He had played a video recording of the incident, at a news conference with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng earlier this week.<\/p>\n
On January 6, an Umno-Online<\/em> report had quoted complainant Mohamad Ali as saying: \u201cAt that time, I tried to stop him again, but my efforts were ignored and [he] said to me \u2018close, close, return to India\u2019.
