KUALA TERENGGANU – Alarm bells started ringing in Terengganu as a Year Six pupil in Kuala Terengganu became the third person to die due to dengue in the state since Jan 1.<\/p>\n
The Year Six girl who died at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ), here at 4am was from Kampung Tanjung Paya.<\/p>\n
Dengue claimed its first victim on Jan 2, a 65-year-old senior citizen while the second death was recorded on Jan 9, involving a 49-year-old woman from Kampung Panji Alam.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Year Six pupil’s mother Nor Aniza Mohd Zahid, 44, said her youngest child (four siblings), had complained of fever after coming home from school last Tuesday.<\/p>\n
“She was vomiting and we took her to HSNZ in the afternoon. However, we were informed that she had normal fever and was prescribed fever medication to be taken at home.<\/p>\n
“However, until Saturday, Nur Amera Natasha’s condition did not improve but instead took a turn for the worst as she continued to vomit and was not able to walk on her own. We rushed her to HSNZ and was immediately placed in the Intensive Care Unit upon confirmation that she had dengue,” Nor Aniza told reporters when met at her house in Kampung Tanjung Paya, here.<\/p>\n
Nur Amera was buried at the Sheikh Ibrahim Muslim Cemetery in the village at 9am.<\/p>\n
