PAS will not give up its seats even to an opposition party in the next general election, having learnt lessons with Parti Negara and Semangat 46, said deputy president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.<\/p>\n
He said the party had \u201csacrificed a lot\u201d in giving up seats to former allies and it was time to go \u201chead to head\u201d with Barisan Nasional in the polls.<\/p>\n
Tuan Ibrahim cited an example of PAS\u2019 cooperation with former ally Parti Negara in the 60s, Semangat 46 and other parties, which he claimed \u201ctook advantage\u201d of the party\u2019s generosity.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen cooperating with Parti Negara, we gave up our seats to them. When cooperating with PKR, we helped them with the election machinery.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd now, they are asking us to cooperate with the new coalition, meaning that we need to give up our seats. That will never happen,\u201d he told thousands of PAS members at the launch of Selangor election machinery here, Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe president (Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang) had told us to help our allies but it was said that when they won, they kicked us out,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Pakatan Harapan – DAP, PKR and Parti Amanah Negara – signed a pact to work together for the next election but have yet to make a decision to work with PAS.<\/p>\n
Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said a decision would only be made on a need basis.<\/p>\n
