Instead, his jail term was extended to two years.<\/p>\n<p>Judge Datuk Abdul Rahim Uda also imposed a fine of RM25,000 and in default, a six-month jail term for DSP Nordin Ahmad, 52.<\/p>\n<p>The accused was first convicted by the Kemaman Session Court on April 25, when he was jailed for 14 days for corruption under Section 11(a) of the Anti-Corruption Act 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Abdul Rahim said that the court viewed that it was unacceptable for a civil servant to accept bribes, hence a stiffer punishment needed to be imposed.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, DPP Ng Siew Wee of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission asked the court to impose a more severe punishment in view of the offence committed.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the fact of the case, Nordin, who was attached to the Federal Narcotics Department, was accused of committing the offence on Oct 23 in 2005 at a house in Kema\u00adman.<\/p>\n<p>He was accused of receiving a bribe of RM5,000 from Mohd Nizam Hamid as an
