{"id":35127,"date":"2015-07-01T01:46:41","date_gmt":"2015-06-30T17:46:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.buletinonline.net\/v7\/?p=35127"},"modified":"2015-07-01T01:46:41","modified_gmt":"2015-06-30T17:46:41","slug":"israel-once-again-commits-an-act-of-piracy-in-the-mediterranean","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/israel-once-again-commits-an-act-of-piracy-in-the-mediterranean\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel Once Again Commits An Act Of Piracy In The Mediterranean"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At 02:06AM Monday 29th Jun 2015 (Gaza time) the \u201cMarianne\u201d contacted Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) and informed us that three boats of the Israeli navy had surrounded her in international waters, while sailing approximately 100NM from Gaza coast.<\/p>\n<p>After that we lost contact with the \u201cMarianne\u201d and at 05:11AM (Gaza time) the IDF announced that they had \u201cvisited and searched\u201d Marianne. They had captured the boat and detained all on board \u201cin international waters\u201d as they admitted themselves.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Marianne-av-gotenberg.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-35129\" src=\"https:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/Marianne-av-gotenberg-300x220.jpg\" alt=\"Marianne av gotenberg\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a>The only positive content in the IDF announcement was that they still recognize that there is a naval blockade of Gaza, despite Netanyahu\u2019s government recent denial that one exists.<\/p>\n<p>We have no reason to believe that Marianne\u2019s capture was \u201cuneventful\u201d, because the last time the IDF said something like that, in 2012, the people on board the \u201cEstelle\u201d were badly tasered and beaten with clubs. Back in 2010, ten passengers of Mavi Marmara were murdered by the IDF during a similar operation in international waters.<\/p>\n<p>It is disappointing that the Israeli government chose to continue the absolutely fruitless policy of \u201cno tolerance\u201d, meaning it will continue to enforce an inhumane and illegal collective punishment against 1.8 million Palestinians in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>Israel&#8217;s repeated acts of state piracy in international waters are worrying signs that the occupation and blockade policy extends to the entire eastern Mediterranean.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/1435543877541.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-35130 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/1435543877541-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"1435543877541\" width=\"300\" height=\"160\" \/><\/a>We demand that the Israeli government cease and desist the illegal detainment of peaceful civilians travelling in international waters in support of humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n<p>We call on our governments to ensure that all passengers and crew from the \u201cMarianne\u201d are safe, and to strongly protest against the violation of international maritime law by the Israeli state.<\/p>\n<p>We call on all civil society organizations to condemn the actions of Israel. People all over the world will continue to respond and react to this injustice, as will we, until the port of Gaza is open and the siege and occupation is ended.-
