{"id":33153,"date":"2015-05-06T10:00:07","date_gmt":"2015-05-06T02:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.buletinonline.net\/v7\/?p=33153"},"modified":"2015-05-06T08:16:00","modified_gmt":"2015-05-06T00:16:00","slug":"rompin-by-election-barisan-retains-seat-with-reduced-majority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/rompin-by-election-barisan-retains-seat-with-reduced-majority\/","title":{"rendered":"Rompin By-Election: Barisan Retains Seat With Reduced Majority"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Barisan Nasional has won the Rompin by-election, albeit with a reduced majority. <\/p>\n<p>Based on official results from the Election Commission on Tuesday, Barisan defeated PAS with a majority of 8,895 votes. <\/p>\n<p>Barisan candidate Datuk Hasan Arifin garnered 23,796 votes while PAS\u2019 Nazri Ahmad received 14,901 votes.    <\/p>\n<p>Voter turnout was 73% or about 38,900 of the 53,294 registered voters in the Rompin constituency.<\/p>\n<p>There were 591 spoilt  votes.<\/p>\n<p>The seat fell vacant after incumbent of 23 years Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis was killed in a helicopter crash along with five others on April 4 near Semenyih in Selangor.<\/p>\n<p>In the 2013 general election (GE13), Dr Jamaluddin retained the seat by beating former Wanita PAS chief Nuridah Mohd Salleh with a majority of 15,114 votes.
