PAS members are rallying behind their president amid a worsening spat with DAP, demanding that its secretary-general Lim Guan Eng retract his allegations against Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.<\/p>\n
PAS vice-president Datuk Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (pic) said the Islamist party was disappointed with the \u201cwild allegations\u201d made against Hadi.<\/p>\n
\u201cPAS urges that DAP retracts all excessive and baseless allegations,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cRude and insulting statements by DAP against our president and party have gone beyond the culture and norms which Malaysians can accept, what more within a political grouping,\u201d Tuan Ibrahim added.<\/p>\n
Among other things, Lim said on Tuesday that Hadi persisted in \u201cdishonest and dishonourable\u201d acts by pushing to implement hudud.<\/p>\n
Lim then announced DAP\u2019s decision to cut ties with Hadi, but not with PAS.<\/p>\n
Tuan Ibrahim said it would be pointless for Pakatan Rakyat to conduct any further meetings involving PAS if DAP continued with its \u201carrogant stance\u201d.<\/p>\n
In Penang, the Youth, Ulama and Muslimat wings of PAS also issued a joint statement saying that they stood by Hadi and supported his move to implement hudud.<\/p>\n
Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat said that severing ties with the president was akin to splitting up with the Islamist party altogether.<\/p>\n
Expressing his disappointment over DAP\u2019s decision, Suhaizan urged the two parties to find a way to resolve their differences.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want PAS to be strong within Pakatan but how can PAS be strong without our president?\u201d<\/p>\n
In Ipoh, Perak PAS Youth said it was ready to sever ties with the state DAP Socialist Youth after its decision to freeze cooperation with the Islamist party over the hudud issue.<\/p>\n
