MIRI – Big Flood happened in Miri is beyond expectation and extraordinary. This time there are many areas around Miri city inundated by flood water as high as 2-3 feet approximately. Roads become congested with vehicles stuck in floods.<\/p>\n

\"Banjir<\/a>Much damage occurring on the property and also home due to floods. Among the areas worst hit by massive flooding this time is Kampung Luak, Taman Selera Tanjung Lobang and around Miri city centre.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on Friday 30 January afternoon was indeed unforeseen because are very rare heavy rains caused major flooding hit residential areas in the Kampung Luak and many other areas inundated by flood water in Miri.<\/p>\n

The Luak Village residents upset with the developer who levelling the land on the hillside without control, causing water stagnation and overflowing water pouring into their residential area.<\/p>\n

Before this are very rare massive floods in the area but due to there is the developers that does not take a proper drainage causing the flow of water from the top of the hill down too fast uncontrollable causing erosion and watershed flowing out without control over the low area.<\/p>\n

Drainage problems and housing problems built on a hill without control should be given attention by the authorities.<\/p>\n

These are some of the causes of major floods in Miri when there are no more trees as the anchor to hold rainwater from flowing out uncontrollably.<\/p>\n

PAS urge the authority to act accordingly to rules for avoiding flood become worst in the future.<\/p>\n

\"Unit<\/a>\u201cWe urge the authorities need to act decisively on those who do not comply with the rules set mainly at residential area just off the hillside that among one of the causes of major floods in Kampung Luak.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe also urge the government and the parties concerned can provide immediate assistance on severe flood victims home. They suffer loss of property due to flooding in their areas,\u201dsaid Haji Jofrie Jaraie, PAS Miri Chief<\/p>\n

He said the authorities to take immediate action to solve this problem so that massive flood in Miri can be controlled and prevented from recurring.<\/p>\n

Among the things that need to be addressed by the authorities is the problem of drainage and also soil erosion on hillsides should be given full control. Cooperation with authorities to resolve this problem from protracted is greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n

In the meantime the AMAL unit of PAS also helped villagers affected by the flood. They came to help clean the house, which is stained with dirt due to muddy water get into the residents’ homes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
