“When Umno receives Islam as the basis of its struggle, then PAS and Muslims will become stronger and Malay politics will consolidate\u00a0 itself,” he explained.<\/p>\n
Nik Aziz advised Umno to change its policy if it wishes to continue to defend its struggle to safeguard the Malay race.<\/p>\n
“And after that, Umno can join PAS in Pakatan Rakyat,” he said tongue-in-cheek.<\/p>\n
Explaining further Nik Aziz said when Umno is together with PAS based on Islamic principles than Muslims will become stronger and Islam will save the human race here and in heaven.<\/p>\n
“Umno must change its policy on its Malay-ness. Don\u2019t follow blindly the Jews because their struggle is based on Jewish teachings, which is the struggle to secure the race.<\/p>\n
“Struggle based on race is not acceptable to Allah and is barred by Nabi Muhamad SAW,” he said.<\/p>\n
He added that PAS had adhered to the guidelines listed in the Quran and had maintained its principles and practices in the 20 years it has administrated Kelantan.<\/p>\n
Referring to the unprecedented PAS victories in the 1990 and 2008 general elections, he said the party had the support of all races, proving that Islam was acceptable to all, even segments of Umno members.<\/p>\n
Nik Aziz said: “Islam teachers us to accept\u00a0 and use verses in the Quran as guidelines in our lives. We cannot chose to use some verses and ignore the rest.<\/p>\n
Islam is a way of life and this means it covers every aspect of human life.<\/p>\n
“It is based on this principal that PAS ruled Kelantan with the support of the other races for 20 years,” he said.<\/p>\n
He said Kelantan was proof that Islamic policies were acceptable to a majority of Malaysians with diverse political ideology.<\/p>\n
“In fact there are many Umno members who support PAS ideology,” he said<\/p>\n
No talks with Umno<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n On Umno attempts to rekindle unity talks with PAS, Nik Aziz said: “PAS is not open to any discussions with Umno. The issue is closed. We are with Pakatan Rakyat and that\u2019s final.”<\/p>\n Nik Aziz was asked to comment on deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin\u2019s statement that that Umno was willing to discuss a unity government with PAS, be in officially or unofficially, for the sake of Malay unity.<\/p>\n But Prime Minister Najib Razak was less receptive to Muhyiddin\u2019s statement. In Putraya yesterday Najib declared that Umno was not “so weak” that it required PAS to prop it up.<\/p>\n Najib said Umno had its own strengths which PAS should admit and respect. Umno he said was also a party that struggled for Islam.<\/p>\n “I do not wish to make any further comments on a unity government. My deputy (Muhyiddin) has already stated his views.
