But at 10am the village was suddenly flooded,\u201d said Kampung Bukit Kolam villager Salmah Awang, 56.<\/p>\n<p>Non-stop rain over the past two days brought the latest wave of floods, nearly a month after the last incident.<\/p>\n<p>Salmah\u2019s village in the Hulu Terengganu district was spared the furious floods during the first wave but six families from Kampung Bukit Kolam were forced to put up at their community hall when their homes were inundated with water at 11am yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe water went up to waist level, prompting the Fire and Rescue Department to ask us to move out,\u201d said fellow villager Wan Mariam Wan Mamat, 75.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it was raining the whole night, I became worried. So, I quickly moved my important belongings to a safer location before the water entered the house,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Checks by The Star along Jalan Kuala Berang saw several flooded spots near Bukit Payung, Marang, which were almost impassable by light vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>By 5pm, 72 families comprising 355 victims had been evacuated and put in nine relief centres across the state.<\/p>\n<p>In Setiu, the worst-hit district, 200 victims were placed in four relief centres.<\/p>\n<p>Figures from the state Security Council showed in Kemaman, the other badly-affected district, 118 victims from 25 families were evacuated from their homes and were now housed in three relief centres.<\/p>\n<p>Roads in various places were badly affected by rising waters, with two stretches in Setiu and Besut closed to vehicles. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA TERENGGANU &#8211; The floods have returned to Terengganu, with waters said to be \u201crising really fast\u201d. \u201cIt was dry in the early morning.
