{"id":2747,"date":"2010-07-01T08:35:31","date_gmt":"2010-07-01T00:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/index.php\/2010\/07\/razaleigh-to-head-parliamentary-caucus-on-state-federal-ties\/"},"modified":"2010-07-01T08:35:31","modified_gmt":"2010-07-01T00:35:31","slug":"razaleigh-to-head-parliamentary-caucus-on-state-federal-ties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/razaleigh-to-head-parliamentary-caucus-on-state-federal-ties\/","title":{"rendered":"Razaleigh to head parliamentary caucus on state, federal ties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"ja-thumbnailwrap thumb-left\" style=\"width: 250px;\">\n<div class=\"ja-thumbnail clearfix\">\n<div class=\"thumbnail\" style=\"position: relative; z-index: 2;\"><a class=\"fancyboxgroup\" href=\"http:\/\/www.freemalaysiatoday.com\/fmt-english\/images\/stories\/tengku-razaleigh-hamzah.jpg\" rel=\"jagroupgroup\"> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.freemalaysiatoday.com\/fmt-english\/images\/resized\/images\/stories\/tengku-razaleigh-hamzah_250_250.jpg\" border=\"0\" style=\"float: left;\" \/> <\/a><br \/>\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\">\/\/ <![CDATA[ \n\/* <![CDATA[ *\/\njQuery(document).ready(function() {\nif( ! jQuery(\"a.fancyboxgroup\").fancybox({\n\t\timageScale:1,\n\t\t\t\t\t\tcenterOnScroll: 1}) ) \n\t{ document.write(''); }\n});\n\/*  *\/\n]]><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>By FMT Staff<\/p>\n<p>KUALA LUMPUR: Former finance minister and Umno veteran  parliamentarian Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah will head a parliamentary caucus  scheduled to be formed next week to review existing state and federal  government ties.<\/p>\n<p>PAS&#8217; Kubang Kerian MP Salahuddin Ayub said the committee will also  study the issue of oil royalties involving Kelantan, Terengganu, Sabah  and Sarawak.<\/p>\n<p>He was of the opinion that Razaleigh\u2019s involvement in the caucus,  having been once a chairman of Petronas, would give it more focus and  direction on issues relating to federal and state laws and jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are several issues relating to the law and constitution that  needs to be studied and discussed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have seen too many grey areas and too many compromises on  policies and principles supposedly based on the spirit of federalism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese compromises have eroded the powers of the respective states  and turned us into beggars,\u201d he said alluding to Kelantan\u2019s on-going  battle with the federal government on the issue of oil royalty.<\/p>\n<p>He said Pakatan Rakyat had met with Razaleigh, who is the Gua Musang  MP, yesterday and he had agreed to chair the committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe met with him yesterday and he has agreed to head the caucus which  will not be limited to just demanding oil royalty rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe caucus will also re-evaluate existing relationships between  Pakatan-ruled states and the federal government.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTengku (Razaleigh) said he will invite MPs from all the parties  including parliamentarians from Kelantan Terengganu, Sabah and Sarawak  to support the caucus,\u201d said Salahuddin who is also PAS vice-president.<\/p>\n<p>Together with Salahuddin at the meeting with Razaleigh were Mahfuz  Omar (Pokok Sena), Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman (Pengkalen Chepa) and  Kamaruddin Jaffar (Tumpat), all from PAS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0 By FMT Staff KUALA LUMPUR: Former finance minister and Umno veteran parliamentarian Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah will head a parliamentary caucus scheduled to be formed next week to review existing state and federal government ties.
