{"id":26397,"date":"2014-09-22T19:44:28","date_gmt":"2014-09-22T11:44:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.buletinonline.net\/v7\/?p=26397"},"modified":"2014-09-22T20:23:27","modified_gmt":"2014-09-22T12:23:27","slug":"palace-sends-letter-appointing-azmin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/palace-sends-letter-appointing-azmin\/","title":{"rendered":"Palace Sends Out Letter Appointing Azmin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Selangor palace has sent out a letter appointing PKR deputy president Azmin Ali as the next mentri besar.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG-20140922-WA0059-5.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-26399 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/IMG-20140922-WA0059-5-206x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG-20140922-WA0059 (5)\" width=\"206\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The official announcement will be made at 9am Tuesday, followed by the swearing-in ceremony at 10am.<\/p>\n<p>Azmin was among three candidates &#8220;interviewed&#8221; by Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah last week to assess their suitability for the top post.<\/p>\n<p>The other candidates were PAS Sijangkang assemblyman Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi and Chempaka assemblyman Iskandar Abdul Samad.<\/p>\n<p>Azmin is Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman and Gombak MP.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he Malay mail online reported, PKR deputy president Azmin Ali has been chosen by the Selangor ruler as the next mentri best of the state, according to an appointment letter signed off by the Sultan\u2019s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, the letter is true. Azmin is the new MB. Tomorrow it will take place at 10.30am,\u201d The Sultan\u2019s private secretary Datuk Mohamad Munir Bani told Malay Mail Online when contacted.<\/p>\n<p>Azmin\u2019s appointment is effective beginning tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>Met outside PKR\u2019s headquarters, Azmin and the party adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim refused to confirm the appointment, only saying that a statement will be issued at 8pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe statement is very encouraging and positive,\u201d said Anwar briefly, before leaving.<\/p>\n<p>In the letter, the palace has instructed Azmin to be present at 10.30am at Istana Alam Shah in Klang to take the oath and subsequent swearing ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment ends months of speculation and squabbling after PKR\u2019s decision to nominate it\u2019s president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail was rejected by it\u2019s Pakatan Rakyat (PR) ally, PAS.<\/p>\n<p>Both PKR and the DAP had nominated just Dr Wan Azizah as MB, while PAS sent in an undisclosed list of candidates, which reportedly did not include Dr Wan Azizah.<\/p>\n<p>Several news reports stated that the Selangor palace had initially picked PAS\u2019 Iskandar Samad for the post but the assemblyman turned down the offer, allegedly due to health reasons.<\/p>\n<p>English-language daily The Star reported Saturday that Azmin, as well as PAS state executive councillors Iskandar and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, were interviewed by the Selangor palace separately last week on their potential to be the next mentri besar.<\/p>\n<p>Iskandar, who is Selangor PAS commissioner and Cempaka assemblyman, and Dr Ahmad Yunus, PAS\u2019s Sijangkang assemblyman, were two of the three individuals named by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang in the party\u2019s list of potential mentri besar candidates to the sultan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Selangor palace has sent out a letter appointing PKR deputy president Azmin Ali as the next mentri besar.
