DENGKIL: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said he was unaware of PKR advisor Anwar Ibrahim’s promise to create a second deputy prime minister post for DAP if the opposition pact wins the next general election.<\/p>\n
He said the matter, in fact, had never been discussed by the pact leaders.”I don’t know, (as) we’ve not discussed it. That’s his (Anwar’s) personal opinion,” he said.<\/p>\n
Abdul Hadi was approached by reporters to comment on Anwar’s latest promise as reported by a local Chinese newspaper, after witnessing the ground-breaking ceremony for the RM30 million PAS Complex in Paya Indah.<\/p>\n
PAS vice-president Salahuddin Ayub said on principle, any decision would be made through discussions by the Pakatan Rakyat supreme council members comprising PAS, DAP and PKR leaders.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Umno Supreme Council member Saifuddin Abdullah said the country’s present system of administration has been effective without requiring a second deputy prime minister.<\/p>\n
He said Malaysia, with a population of about 27 million, did not need to create the post as the parliamentary democratic system had been accepted by the country’s multiracial society without any problems.<\/p>\n
Saifuddin, who is also Higher Education Deputy Minister, said: “Anwar is out of touch with reality and is a racist as he will go to the extent of creating a special post to win the support of the Chinese community which could drive others to demand for the same post for their own community.<\/p>\n
“Hence, the people must defend the current system of administration and not be taken in by the political gimmick of the PKR advisor who is trying to draw public attention and support for the opposition pact,” he said.- Bernama<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
