SHAH ALAM – PAS Selangor commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad said the party has never discussed the prospect of fielding a menteri besar candidate from PAS to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.<\/p>\n
Iskandar, who was met at the state secretariat building today, said that even though the party is aware of the possibilities that the current candidates for the post, Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, Azmin Ali could be rejected by the Sultan of Selangor.<\/p>\n
“We have never discussed about fielding a candidate from Pas. The party is aware of our agreement with the other two parties in Pakatan Rakyat that the menteri besar will be from PKR.<\/p>\n
“It was PAS’s decision to suggest Azmin with the intention to provide the Sultan with options but Wan Azizah was agreed to be the candidate by all three parties.<\/p>\n
“We respect the consensus and each member would follow his\/her party’s orders in support for the next menteri besar,” said Iskandar who was rumoured to be PAS’s ‘secret’ candidate for the post.<\/p>\n
Iskandar added that the remaining four PAS executive council members will continue working with Khalid and respect the party’s order for them to do so.<\/p>\n
“PAS will continue our work with the state government because we need to ensure that all of our efforts and works for the state do not go to waste.<\/p>\n
“We must also ensure that there is continuity in the state governance until a new menteri besar is picked. Before that happens, we still need to serve the people,” he said.<\/p>\n
While Khalid, who was spotted leaving the meeting hall before Iskandar tried to avoid the media and refused to comment on any of the questions thrown at him except with, “There is no media statement for today,”.<\/p>\n
The embattled menteri besar, who had accepted the decision by Pas to retract their support for him in the state assembly, was seen smiling as he raced to his office and continued work.-NST<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
