Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has served a letter of demand on PKR secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution over an Aug 4 letter sent to PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali, which was also widely reported in the media.<\/p>\n
In the letter of demand which served on Saifuddin on Monday, the embattled Selangor Mentri Besar referred to statements made in the letter as well as an appended report titled “The Decision to Replace the Selangor Mentri Besar” which was sent to Mustafa.<\/p>\n
“Our client instructs that the report was circulated by you to the press, mass media and online media. Thereafter, the contents of the report was widely reported.<\/p>\n
“The report in general tone and tenor and read as a whole are defamatory of our client,” said Khalid’s lawyer New Sin Yew in the letter.<\/p>\n
New added that the letter and report had also been forwarded to PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, PAS spiritual advisor Datuk Nik Aziz Nik Mat, DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and the DAP central executive committee, among others.<\/p>\n
He added that Khalid had “taken exception” to several issues, namely the loan settlement with Bank Islam, business deals with Eco World Sdn Bhd, Selangor’s water restructuring deal with Putrajaya, the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway and garbage collection, potholes and business licence fee increases.<\/p>\n
“The impugned words \u2026 mean, among others that our client \u2026 reached an out-of-court settlement with Bank Islam over its court action against our client,” said New.<\/p>\n
He added that the words used implied Khalid had engaged in corrupt practices or bribery and that he was a person of unsavoury character, was a dishonest person, not trustworthy, and misused power for his own benefit and not fit to be the Mentri Besar.<\/p>\n
“The report of Aug 4 to the secretary-general of PAS represents \u2026 malicious intention to injure our client’s reputation,” said New.<\/p>\n
He said that Khalid wanted Saifuddin to retract his statements and issue an unconditional public apology to him in two local newspapers of Khalid’s choice within a 24-hour period of receiving the letter of demand.<\/p>\n
