Talk of PAS wanting to leave Pakatan Rakyat is “too presumptuous for now,” PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
He said the views of grassroots leaders in the Islamist party did not constitute PAS’ official stand.<\/p>\n
“I do not consider them the voice of the main leadership or especially that of (PAS president) Datuk Seri Abdul) Hadi Awang.<\/p>\n
“I know he is very committed to Pakatan. I am optimistic,” said Anwar, when speaking to reporters before a prayer ceremony here.<\/p>\n
He said there was no indication for now that PAS wanted to break lose from Pakatan.<\/p>\n
“I see that as far as we are concerned, they are still very much committed to Pakatan,” he added.<\/p>\n
He was commenting on reports of a WhatsApp group chat in which PAS central committee member Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki outlined his idea of PAS quitting Pakatan and cooperating with several Umno assemblymen to form a simple majority in Selangor.<\/p>\n
Anwar said he would not interfere in the matter, which he considered an internal PAS issue.<\/p>\n
