KUALA TERENGGANU, April 27 (Bernama) — The wife and father-in-law of Datuk Dr Ahmad Ramzi Mohamad Zubir today testified in the trial of the former political secretary to former Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh who was charged with making a criminal threat via SMS to three assemblymen in April last year.<\/p>\n
Datin Ilia Ismail, 38, a teacher at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Sheikh Abdul Malik, and her father, Ismail Awang Su, 70, testified as the sixth and seventh witness, respectively, before Sessions Court judge M Bakri Abd Majid.<\/p>\n
During examination by deputy public prosecutor Shahidani Abd Aziz, Ilia said her husband, who now worked at the MARA office, Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur, had a Dell laptop, while two others, one of the same brand and the other, Acer, which were found in their house belonged to her father and son, respectively.<\/p>\n
However, both the laptops, as well as the modem, had been taken by the police, she added.<\/p>\n
She told the court that she had never used her husband’s laptop, but would use her son’s laptop when she needed to do her work.<\/p>\n
“My husband also had never used the laptops which were in the house to do his work,” she added.<\/p>\n
Ilia and Ismail, who testified later, denied having sent the SMS threat to three Barisan Nasional assemblymen or had asked others to do so for them.<\/p>\n
Ahmad Ramzi was charged on three counts of making criminal intimidation by threatening the lives of Paka assemblyman Mohd Ariffin Abdullah, Permaisuri assemblyman Abdul Halim Jusoh and Ajil assemblyman Datuk Rosol Wahid with intention of creating fear in them at E726 Jalan Kubang Parit, Kampung Kubang Parit between 11.21am and 11.25am on April 13<\/p>\n
He faces two years’ jail for each charge, if convicted.<\/p>\n
Ahmad Ramzi is also charged with slandering Wan Ahamad Wan Muda, the former private secretary to Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said by posting a SMS threat on the lives of the three assemblymen on the website http:\/\/ownsmsbiz.com\/v1 by using a mobile phone number 019-9158369 owned by Wan Ahamad at the same place between 11.21am and 11.25am the same day.<\/p>\n
He faces two years’ jail or a fine or both under the charge, if convicted.<\/p>\n
Ahmad Ramzi was represented by three lawyers, Datuk Hazman Ahmad, Mohd Noor Mahmood and Rosli Abd Rahman.<\/p>\n
