The Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan has denied that he has resigned while questioning the source of the information.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have not submitted any resignation letter to the Prime Minister or anyone. I want to know if the source is from an official channel or from the \u2018underground\u2019,\u201d he said when contacted on Saturday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know it is not from the (Home) Ministry as I have checked with its secretary-general Datuk Mahmood Adam, who denied any knowledge.\u201d<\/p>\n
Musa said if information in the article published was obtained from unofficial channels including the \u201cunderground\u201d such as syndicates, then he \u201cfelt sorry\u201d for the country.<\/p>\n
He said if the \u201cunderground\u201d could manipulate the post of the IGP, then Malaysia was heading for disaster.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have asked my officers to check with the newspaper that published the article and find out the source who gave them the misleading information,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Musa had been given an extension to his one-year contract and he is due to retire in September.<\/p>\n
A Chinese daily had reported that Musa was expected to step down on March 25 during a Police Day function.<\/p>\n
It quoted sources that said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein accepted his resignation.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, in Kuala Terengganu, Hishammuddin dismissed the report that Musa had tendered his resignation.<\/p>\n
He added he would ask the newspaper\u2019s editors to explain their motive in printing the article.<\/p>\n
