PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has denied a newpaper report that he has been appointed secretary-general of the Egypt-based Ikhwan International Muslim Brotherhood.<\/p>\n
He said Egyptian newspaper Al-Wathan had front-paged a report that he had been selected as the political organisation’s new secretary-general.<\/p>\n
“I vehemently deny this report as it is a lie. It is unreasonable that I, as someone who lives in the Far-east, am involved in Egyptian affairs,” he told a press conference at the Parliament lobby Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Abdul Hadi said PAS was looking at how it could take action against Al-Wathan and was consulting its legal officers on the matter.<\/p>\n
“This news report is a provocation that aims to make it difficult for us in our international relations,” he said.<\/p>\n
In the Al-Wathan report dated Nov 10, Abdul Hadi was named as the secretary-general and that it was agreed that the secretariat headquarters be located in Malaysia.<\/p>\n
The report also said the secretary-general would head a five-member committee tasked to manage affairs around the world for three years.<\/p>\n
Abdul Hadi said PAS supported the democratic process and the rights of the Egyptian people to elect their leaders.<\/p>\n
“Ousted president Mohammed Morsi should be reinstated. Whether or not the Egyptian people want to reject him, that is their right. There should not be a military coup,” he said.<\/p>\n

Tidak Munasabah Presiden PAS libatkan diri secara langsung dengan apa yang berlaku di Mesir<\/strong><\/p>\n Presiden PAS, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang menafikan dakwaan laporan akhbar Mesir, Al-Wathan bahawa beliau telah dilantik sebagai Setiausaha Agung Antarabangsa Ikhwan Muslimin.<\/p>\n Beliau berkata laporan muka depan akhbar berkenaan mendakwa beliau telah dilantik sebagai Setiausaha Agung Antarabangsa yang baru bagi parti politik berkenaan.<\/p>\n “Saya menafikan sekeras-kerasnya bahawa berita ini adalah bohong dan sangat mendukacitakan. Adalah tidak munasabah saya yang duduk di timur melibatkan diri secara langsung dengan apa yang berlaku di Mesir,” katanya kepada pemberita di Lobi Parlimen pada Selasa.<\/p>\n Abdul Hadi berkata PAS sedang mengkaji tindakan guaman yang boleh diambil ke atas akhbar tersebut.<\/p>\n “Ini satu berita provokasi untuk menyulitkan kita dalam hubungan antarabangsa,” katanya.<\/p>\n Dalam laporannya pada 10 November, Al-Wathan mendakwa Abdul Hadi telah dilantik sebagai Setiausaha Agung Antarabangsa parti berkenaan dan telah dipersetujui oleh ibu pejabat sekteriat berkenaan yang terletak di Malaysia.<\/p>\n Akhbar itu yang memetik kenyataan bekas pemimpin Ikhwan yang telah keluar dari Ikhwan, Tharwat Kharbawi mendakwa bahawa Abdul Hadi sebagai ketua kepada lima orang jawatankuasa pengurusan yang bertanggungjawab menguruskan tanzim di seluruh dunia selama tiga tahun.<\/p>\n Mengulas lanjut, Abdul Hadi yang juga Ahli Parlimen Marang itu berkata PAS menyokong proses demokrasi dan hak asasi rakyat Mesir dalam memilih pemimpin mereka.<\/p>\n “Kita tidak masuk campur (krisis Mesir) cuma hak asasi manusia kita sokong bukan sahaja PAS tapi parti lain di barat yang mendukung demokrasi mahu hak rakyat dikembalikan.<\/p>\n “Bekas Presiden Mohammed Morsi perlu dikembalikan jawatannya. Sama ada orang Mesir terima atau menolaknya itu adalah hak mereka.
