{"id":1443,"date":"2009-12-05T03:00:54","date_gmt":"2009-12-04T19:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/buletinonline.net\/v7\/index.php\/2009\/12\/cave-ins-on-new-road-spark-fears\/"},"modified":"2009-12-05T03:00:54","modified_gmt":"2009-12-04T19:00:54","slug":"cave-ins-on-new-road-spark-fears","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/buletinonlines.net\/v7\/index.php\/cave-ins-on-new-road-spark-fears\/","title":{"rendered":"Cave-ins on new road spark fears"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">KUALA TERENGGANU: Serious cave-ins that appeared at several stretches along a newly-completed road that links Kuala Terengganu to Gua Musang have raised questions about the quality of its construction.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">A state assemblyman has also called on the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to probe if there was any irregularity.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">Kuala Berang assemblyman Zawawi Ismail said the road had collapsed at several stretches in his constituency.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">\u201cThere probably could be similar cave-ins in other stretches outside my constituency,\u201d he said.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">The collapsed stretches are part of the road which will ultimately link Kuala Terengganu with Ipoh. Currently, the road has been completed up to Gua Musang while the link to Simpang Pulai in Perak has yet to be completed,<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">Zawawi said he was very concerned over the stretch from Kuala Berang to Gua Musang, near Kampung Kuala Jenderis, where there was a serious cave-in on Nov 24 after the second wave of flooding hit the state.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">He said several other cave-ins have been reported periodically since last week.-TheStarOnline<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=\"arial,helvetica,sans-serif\">\u201cEveryone knows that the area is flood-prone.
