The Terengganu state government does not intend to continue with the services of Parliamentary Constituency Development Officer (PPP) and State Constituency Development Officer (PPD) in areas won by the opposition on May 5.<\/p>\n
Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the people in these parliamentary and state constituencies need to get assistance from the elected representatives they have chosen.<\/p>\n
“We will consider other avenues, nonetheless there are no plans to continue with the services of PPP and PPD in the areas we lost.<\/p>\n
“All this while, we (Terengganu Barisan Nasional) have taken over the duties of PAS elected representatives to resolve their everyday problems and this time we will let the people in the areas complain to their representative,” he said.<\/p>\n
Speaking to reporters after the swearing in ceremony of the Menteri Besar and members of the Terengganu State Executive Council at Istana Maziah today, Ahmad however said BN Terengganu will continue to implement the development agenda as promised in BN’s state manifesto.<\/p>\n
“Development will continue as promised, nonetheless construction of affordable houses will not be built in the state constituencies we lost, we will build in the areas won by BN,” he said.<\/p>\n
Among the supplementary manifesto made by Terengganu BN in the election was to attract more than RM25 billion of investment in the petrochemical, biotechnology and steel industries with more than 10,000 job opportunities, upgrade the Al-Quran Institute of Terengganu into a university and make Tasik Kenyir as an eco-tourism hub and tax-free zone.<\/p>\n
Last Sunday, Terengganu BN maintained its mandate to rule the state when it won 17 seats in the state legislative assembly while PAS won 14 and PKR, one.<\/p>\n
