Perikatan Nasional component parties may contest the Melaka election under different logos if the coalition’s registration issue with the Registrar of Societies (RoS) remains unresolved.<\/p>\n
Pas vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Abdullah said PN had several component parties, including Pas and Parti Wawasan Negara (Wawasan), which could contest under their respective party logos if the issue remained unresolved.<\/p>\n
“I personally see that we have many options. We have our own logos, but if the situation becomes very urgent, we may contest using another party’s logo.<\/p>\n
“Perhaps Wawasan could use another logo if the situation reaches that stage. If a party cannot conduct activities, then we have to look at other options,” he said.<\/p>\n
The Panchor assemblyman was speaking to reporters after launching the Pengkalan Chepa Pas election machinery last night.<\/p>\n
Mohd Amar, however, said no decision had been made and the options were still being discussed.<\/p>\n
“It is only a political assumption for now. But the matter will be discussed,” he said.<\/p>\n
He said there was a precedent involving Bersatu, which had previously received a letter from RoS restricting its activities and use of its logo.<\/p>\n
“At that time, Bersatu contested using the PKR logo. So, it is possible that something similar could happen again,” he said.<\/p>\n
Mohd Amar said the matter would be decided by the PN leadership, including its chairman and secretary-general.<\/p>\n
“But for now, our focus is to resolve the issue with RoS first.<\/p>\n
“I believe the matter can be managed within 30 days. Based on RoS’ statement, it appears that the door is still open, and what is needed is clarification,” he said.<\/p>\n
Asked whether the 30-day period would affect the use of the PN logo in the Melaka election, Mohd Amar said the coalition might not be able to use it.<\/p>\n
“Thirty days is quite a long time, so there is a possibility that the Melaka election may not be able to use the PN logo,” he said.<\/p>\n
