KOTA BHARU: Pas has confirmed negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) regarding the Melaka state elections have begun, but are yet to be finalised.<\/p>\n
Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said discussions were underway and would be conducted based on developments and the current situation.<\/p>\n
“What I can say is that the negotiations have begun, but have not been finalised. The matter is still ongoing as the state assembly has yet to be dissolved.<\/p>\n
“We will observe the situation based on the current circumstances,” he said at the press conference after officiating the 72nd Pas Annual Muktamar today.<\/p>\n
When asked about the number of seats Pas would contest in the Melaka state election, Hadi said the matter is yet to be decided.
\nThe Melaka state legislative assembly has not been dissolved yet. We need to observe the performance and machinery in Melaka, as well as the transparency of our cooperation with other parties,” he said.<\/p>\n
Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi hinted that the Melaka election could be held after the 2026 Umno general assembly.<\/p>\n
The assembly is scheduled to take place from Sept 9 to 12.<\/p>\n
He, however, declined to comment when asked whether the state polls would be held immediately after the event, saying it was the prerogative of Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusuf.NST<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
