Umno will invite Pas’ top leadership to its 2026 general assembly at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, scheduled for Sept 9 to 12.<\/p>\n
Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the decision was reached at the party’s Supreme Council meeting last night.<\/p>\n
“The meeting agreed to extend an official invitation to the top Pas leadership to attend the 2026 Umno General Assembly as a gesture of respect and to reciprocate the invitation extended to the Umno leadership to attend the Pas Muktamar,” he told reporters after the meeting.<\/p>\n
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan previously said Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was among the senior leaders invited to the party’s 72nd Muktamar from Sept 2 to 5.<\/p>\n
Takiyuddin reportedly said three other senior Umno leaders had also been invited.<\/p>\n
Zahid confirmed on Aug 23 that Umno would send representatives to the Muktamar, although the party had yet to decide who would attend.<\/p>\n
The Pas Muktamar will be held in Kota Baru, Kelantan, with its main event to be opened by Pas president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang on Sept 4.<\/p>\n
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh has also confirmed that he will attend the Pas Youth Muktamar on Sept 3.<\/p>\n
His attendance follows an invitation from Pas Youth to the Umno Youth leadership, providing an opportunity for both wings to meet at an official event.<\/p>\n
On the Umno assembly, Asyraf said the Supreme Council had approved three programmes to be held on Sept 8, a day before it begins.<\/p>\n
They are the 2026 Malay Education Convention, the Malaysian Islamic Scholars Multaqa and the Creative Women’s Pavilion.<\/p>\n
